For 1 cup coconut milk, add 1teaspoon shikakai or two tablespoons gram flour. This mixture will be applied to the hair while gently massaging the scalp. This is rinsed out after five minutes. This must be followed religiously once in a week.

A homemade protein conditioner for dry hair consists of 1 tablespoon glycerin, 1 tablespoon castor oil, 1 teaspoon protein, 1 teaspoon cider vinegar, and 1 tablespoon mild herbal shampoo, all beaten together in a bowl. The conditioner is applied on the scalp and allowed to stay for about 20 minutes then rinse with clear water afterwards.

Coconut oil can be made into a homemade toner or special massage oil. Put one teaspoon of lavender oil in a bottle of coconut oil. Heat for awhile, and when night comes, massage it gently on your scalp. The next morning, rinse or shampoo the hair. Follow this routine twice a week.

Jojoba oil has also been used to control dandruff and promote hair growth. This oil is great to use as a great moisturizer since it is similar to the sebum present on the scalp. Aloe vera is also used to promote healthy hair and prevent hair loss. Henna is a traditional Indian herb that acts as a natural conditioner and is excellent for the maintenance of healthy hair.
